Where am I supposed to sit?
All seats are assigned. If you have a specific need to sit in a specific area (i.e. hearing loss, poor eye sight and need to sit in the front) please see me after class.

How will I be
graded?
OPS has adopted the following grading scale:
93-100% A- Superior
85-92% B- Above Average
79-84% C- Average
70-78% D- Below Average
69% and ↓ F- Failing
What are the
expectations in this classroom?
Be on time, be
safe, be respectful, be responsible.
How much “tarea”
(homework) will I have?
You should be able to complete most assignments in
class, if you use your class time wisely! J
However, you need to study your vocabulary every
night for at least 5 (five) minutes.
What is Señorita
Bowman’s LATE WORK policy?
You will receive a stamp for the completion of homework. You will not receive a stamp for incomplete homework. You are responsible for obtaining the answers when we correct the assignment in class in order to earn 5-10 points credit (depending on length of assignment).
What is Señorita
Bowman’s tardy policy?
A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in
the classroom ready to begin when the bell rings (this means quiet, in your
seat, focused on the “Pregunta del Día” on the overhead). If you absolutely
must sharpen your pencil, this may be done before the “Pregunta del Día”
timer buzzes.
Students not in class when the roll is checked will
be marked absent. Students entering the
class after the roll is taken must obtain a "Tardy Explanation Form"
from the designated folder, complete the requested information, and return the
form to the instructor at the end of class. The absence will then be
changed to an excused or unexcused tardy.
You will receive a 9th hour for your
third tardy. If you are tardy often, your parents will be notified. If it still
continues, your administrator will be involved.
What happens if
I am absent?
You are responsible for making up any work you
missed while you were gone. This includes class notes, assignments, tests, etc.
For each day you are absent, you have TWO days to
make up assignments you missed while you were gone. For long-term absences and
absences you know of in advance, please see me.
If an assignment that was assigned to you before
you were absent was due while you were gone, it is due the day you come back.
Example- If there’s a project due on Monday, and this project was assigned the previous
Tuesday, and you’re absent on Monday, then the project is due the day you
RETURN to school.
Extra Credit:
Students may receive extra credit by bringing in newspapers, books, music, or anything authentic that is written in Spanish or is authentic to a Spanish speaking culture.
What kind of
assignments will I have?
What about
restroom breaks?
Please use the 4 minutes between classes wisely and
use the restroom then. All requests to use the restroom need to be done in
Spanish. (“Por favor, puedo ir al
baño?) This is a request,
therefore I will let you know when it is appropriate to leave the room.
If a restroom pass is issued from Señorita Bowman,
the pass is good for the restroom in the 10s hallway only, unless otherwise
specified.
What if I feel
that:
Please, come talk to me! For ANY of the above
situations, or any other issue related to your performance in my class, please,
PLEASE come talk to me outside of class. I am available before school from at
least 7:25a.m. (most days earlier than that), and I’m here until at least
11:15a.m. If this is not convenient, please write a note to me and drop it off
in the office so it will be placed in my mailbox and we will arrange a time to
meet.
